8th grade course description
In 8th grade, life science is the focus. The central topics that will be focused upon include:
The principles of scientific inquiry
Human organ systems
Genetics and heredity
Ecosystems
Plate tectonics
Earth's cycles and changes
Geologic time
Chemical reactions
Science lab
In science lab various scientific principles will be explored through lessons and hands-on lab experiences. Some of these princples include:
--Ecology- migration, population studies and plant information
--Physical science- studying physics through constructing roller coasters and bridges, and exploring physical and chemical properties of substances
--Independent academic research on topics of personal interest in order to write a formal informative essay
